Overview

  • The Entrepreneur Visa and Alien Resident Certificate programme is launched as incentives to attract foreign entrepreneurs to come to Taiwan for innovation and entrepreneurship and to boost Taiwan's economic growth 

  • New visa and first time renewal: 2 years

  • Subsequent renewals: 2 years (max.)

Eligibility

You must meet least one of the following criteria:

  1. Have secured investment from a domestic or overseas venture capital firm, or obtained funding of at least NTD 2 million in investment (fund-raising) from a government-approved  startup fund-raising platform

  2. Have been physically stationed within one year, or is physically stationing in, parks or incubators approved or operated by Taiwan government , and has been recommended by such parks or startup incubators​

  3. Have been awarded an invention patent, or can demonstrate unique professional expertise

  4. Have obtained plant variety rights, or animal name registration in Taiwan

  5. Have won an award in a business start-up or design competition

  6. Have won an award in fashion shows, film festivals, and international style awards, or can demonstrate other innovation capabilities 

  7. Have already established an enterprise with an investment of at least NTD 1 million in Taiwan that meets the Directions of Recognition for Startups with Innovation Capability, and been serving as the legal representative, manager or director of that enterprise

Application Fee

First time application

  • US passport holders (apply outside TW) : NTD 7,920

  • US passport holders (apply while in TW) : NTD 8,720

  • Foreign passport holders (apply outside TW) :  NTD 4,200 

  • Foreign passport holders (apply while in TW) :  NTD 5,000 

  • Hong Kong or Macau Residents : NTD 2,600

Visa renewal

  • All  foreign nationals :  NTD 1,000 for 1-year extension; NTD 2,000 for 2-year extension

  • Hong Kong or Macau residents: NT$300 (flat rate)
